These are Written…

“But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing, you may have life in His Name.”  John 20:31 (ESV)

In order to believe that Jesus is Christ, we have read that things that He had written in the Bible.  Reading about Him, and reading His words. This month, in looking at this scripture, why don’t we pray that we be intentional about our time with Him and reading His word?

The Bible was written so that we may see Jesus.  These things are written, or recorded, as it is written in different versions, is so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ. In order to believe, we have to get to know Him.  There has to be that trust element.

In order to believe Him, we need to spend time with Him.  I don’t know about you, but in order for me to believe in someone, I have to get to know them.  It is the same with Jesus, the more I get to know Him, the more I believe in Him, and the more I trust Him.  He knew that, and so He gave us a starting point.

Yes, life gets crazy, and that is why we have to be so intentional about it.  Jesus has so much to say to us, and all we have to do is take the time to read what has already been written.  He wants us to have a life that is in Him.

So, this month let us read what was written for us in the Bible.  Who knows, we may find something that we have not ever read before and it will affect our lives.  Maybe we have read it, but this time, we get something completely different out of the scriptures then we have before.

Let us see what Jesus wants to show us this month.  After all, it is by believing we have life in Him.  Let’s give God authority to move in our lives.  Let’s see what happens.

Keep Moving Forward

"The vision that God gives is not some unattainable castle in the sky, but a vision of what God wants you to be down here. Allow the Potter to put you on His wheel and whirl you around as He desires. Then as surely as God is God, and you are you, you will turn out as an exact likeness of the vision. But don't lose heart in the process. If you have ever had a vision from God, you may try as you will to be satisfied on a lower level, but God will never allow it."

~ Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, Updated Edition

"Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."
Psalm 37:5

Spending Quiet Time with God and Listening to His Voice

Sometimes it's not a matter of wanting to spend time with God, but a question of how?
What do we do with the time when we have it?

Here are some suggestions on how we can spend quiet time with God.

~ Praising Him in Psalm.
~ Silence with God, "Be still and know that I am God."
        - Allow God to speak to your heart, mind, and soul.
~ Through journaling your prayers and thoughts about God.
~ Through devotional Scripture, by reading stories. Ask yourself these questions as you read:
     - What does this text/story say about God?
     - What does this text/story say about me?
     - What does this text/story say about my walk with God?

Where can we hear his voice?
It's  all around us, we just need to listen.

Listen through...
         Nature
         Scripture
         Friends
         Music

The more time we spend with God, we will realize how evident he is in every part of our life.

Secret Prayer

"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
~Matthew 6:6

April's Prayer Topic

This month let's pray about spending intentional alone time with God to learn to hear his voice more clearly.

Whether in the quiet of the morning, before our world around us wakes, or in the stillness of the night...

When are you making time for God?
With no one else around, no distractions?
Alone time?

So you will be know when you hear his voice.

"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you" James 4:8
