Praying for World Leaders

Anyone watching the news lately will wonder where this world is going, and who is in control and who is making the decision.  Some of you may know where this world is going and are worried about it.  Whatever your views are Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, there are things going on in this world that are scary.  

This year we have had so many disasters.  Just to name a few that have happened in recent days, Turkey, France, Dallas, and Baton Rouge.  All of these disasters came from a decision made by one person or a group of people, a decision that has affected a lot of people.

World leaders have decisions that they have to make every day. If you stop and think of the pressure that leaders, any leaders, are under, it is a monumental undertaking.  How to keep their people safe, whether civilians, or officers, and it is not just in the USA. 

What do they do after a coup? What is the next step with the Brexit vote?  How can we protect our people from being mowed over by a truck? How can keep people safe from being shot? These are just a few of the questions they have to face.

Every day our leaders have to make decisions that affect us.  I have to admit that sometimes this really scares me. I don’t agree with all of those decisions. Yet, I remember that my God is so much bigger than any hate, any person, any wrong decision.  I can pray for our leaders.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  Isaiah 41:10

Praying for our leaders is something that we can do.  We don’t have to agree with every decision.  Yet, there are times that we don’t have all the pieces, as our leaders should.  Pray that our leaders take all the information that they have, and make the best decision.

We can pray that our world leaders are given all the information, and make the best decision based on the latest and greatest information.  You and I can also do our part.  When we have a chance to make a difference, like voting-do it.  Pray before you vote, whichever way it is.  If you pray before you vote, then you are voting how God wants you to vote.

 “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you.  I do not give it as the world does.  Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” John 14:27

I am proud to be an American.  Do I agree with everything that has happened here, or decisions that have been and will continue to be made here? No, I do not.  I do realize that my country, and every country around the globe, is made up of people, and as long as people are in any country, wrong decisions will be made. 

So, my job is to pray for those that make the decisions.  Also, write your leaders, whether congressman, or local leader, and tell them that you are praying for them this month.  Don’t complain about taxes, or the bad decisions they have made.  Just tell them that you are praying for them.

Dear Lord,

Lord, I must remember that you are still on Your thrown.  I pray for our world leaders as they make life altering decisions that affect us all.  Please give the wisdom to make the best decision.

Prayer for our Leaders…

How do we move forward if we feel that our leaders have made wrong decisions that have the capability to divide us further?  Honestly, that is something that I am currently struggling with.  Recently my faith in certain organizations has been shaken to my core. Can I get past those decisions?  I hope so.

I am angry, and saddened by certain decisions by our leaders that have been made in the name of Christianity. Witnessing the actions of some of our leaders that were less than Christ-like, and they claim to be Christians, is to say the least, disheartening. I am saddened in decisions that has the potential to split us wide open.  It is the actions of people, our leaders.   Yet, I pray for them.  I pray that God will show us His Power.

My faith in God has remained strong.  It has to, or what else do I believe in. This morning, I was singing at the top of my lungs a song about power in the Name of Jesus.  The radio was so loud, that it drowned out all thoughts of doubt or anger.  I believe that there is power in the name of Jesus.

I choose to Trust in the Lord. It is my word for the year.  I choose to trust that even despite bad decisions, or divisive decisions, God can still shine brightly.  He is so much more than any human in power.  So, I choose the power that is in the Name of Jesus.

POWER in the Name of Jesus.

Lord, I pray that you help me remember that it is about You.  I don’t want to be angry, or hurt about decisions that were made by man.  I pray that even though some decisions that were made, and I see as wrong, You will shine through the darkness.  You are our Light, and our Power source. There is Power in your Name.  There is Power in Jesus' Name.  If I scream that at the top of my lungs every day, maybe the anger will dissipate.  I need you Lord to help me not become jaded against our leaders.  You are in control, and you can heal us.  You can change hearts of our leaders, if they will listen.   May we never lose focus of what is the most important, and that is You. AMEN

We continue to pray for our leaders this month, whether we agree with their decisions or not.  God is bigger.

July Prayer Topic: Prayer for Guidance - Pray for our Leaders

 All over the world major decisions are being made.  Every day, our leaders, church, state, and world, are making a lot of significant choices.  Some of those decision have the ability to be very divisive. We are praying this month that God shows guidance, and that our leaders heed that guidance.

Divisive means… ”tending to cause disagreement or hostility between people.”  Our leaders, church, state, or world, have such a hard task.  It is fitting that we are praying for our leaders this month. For here in the US we have Independence Day.  The American forefathers were guided to make a separation.  It was a very bold move.

Did you know that, even the Declaration of Independence, God is mentioned several times. It is evident that they were giving credit to God.

 

“When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

God is the guiding hand, if only we would listen to Him.  Change is tough, but if our eyes are on God, then that change will become a path to where God wants to lead us to.  On the other hand, some changes could be damaging to us and to our nation.  The leaders have to figure out what is the right decision, and sometimes they make the wrong decision.

When a wrong decision is made, it is dividing and destructive.  Pray that God will guide our leaders and decision makers to make, not just the best decision, but the decision that is God driven.

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked rule, the people mourn.” Proverbs 29:2
